Removing Antivirus Applications

Before installing the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ recommended antivirus application (Symantec EndPoint Protection), you need to remove all other antivirus applications.

Remove Alternate Antivirus Application

To remove applications from your computer:

  1. From the Start Menu select Control Panels.
  2. Verify that you are using the View By: Small or Large Icons, rather than Category.
  3. Select the Programs and Features (or Add Remove Programs) Control Panel.
  4. Select the application you would like to remove from the installed programs list
  5. Click Uninstall
  6. After the uninstall has completed, reboot your computer.

Download and Install Symantec EndPoint Protection

Please note: Beginning in the 2014-2015 academic year, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Technology Services will no longer offer Symantec Endpoint Protection for installation on personally-owned computers. Campus network users (Windows) will still be required to have a functional antivirus program installed on their computer. These programs include Norton, Kaspersky, etc. On Windows 8 and Windows 10 machines, the standard Windows Defender program is recommended.

Symantec EndPoint Protection is available to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ students and faculty on the . Before installing Symantec, please be sure to verify that all other anti-virus software is completely removed from your system, Endpoint Protection will not function properly if other anti-virus software is present.

To install Symantec EndPoint Protection:

  1. Download the installer from the .
  2. Double-click the installer.
