E-mail

Home Directory

Copy your files from your Home Directory (Z: Drive) to a USB flash drive, external hard drive, your personal Google account, or to your personal computer before you leave campus. If you use Nebula or Locker, you most likely have files on your home directory. If you routinely use a lab computer to work on files, you may have files located on your home directory in the desktop or documents folders when connected to the lab computer or Virtual Lab.

Academic Resources

Purchase software packages and computers at academic pricing while you are still eligible. Once you graduate, you will spend more money for the same products.

Microsoft Office

If you have downloaded the free Office 365 offered through ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅, your subscription will end after graduation. You will need to download or move your ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Office 365 online documents to your computer or to Google Drive.

If you still plan to use Microsoft Office we recommend that you uninstall Office 365 from ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ and purchase a copy of Office Home and Student 2016. It is available at many retail stores, or you can buy it online.

If you experience problems with installing or updating a copy of Microsoft Office, you will need to completely uninstall the copy of Office 365 you downloaded while at ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅. To do so, follow these .

Other Academic Software and Resources

Access to other academic software (Qualtrics, Hoonuit, ArcGIS, SPSS, Virtual Lab and others) and library resources will end during the summer of your graduation year.

After I graduate, how long do I have access to my ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ account?

GusMail accounts will continue to work. Your ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ User Account (e-mail) will remain active after graduation. You will be required to change your ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ User Account password on a regular basis.

How do I get an official transcript after I graduate?

The Registrar's Office (/registrar/) at ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ supplies official transcripts for all ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ students and alumni. You have two options for requesting transcripts:

  • Paper - A paper transcript can be requested from the Registrar’s Office
  • Electronic - An electronic (secure, certified PDF) version can be requested using Parchment.

For more information on transcript requests, please see: /registrar/transcripts.php

I have a new e-mail account; can I set up my ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ e-mail to be sent to this new address?

For security reasons, email forwarding from your GusMail account is not an option. You can continue checking your ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ email by visiting or configuring your GusMail account through the GMail app on your mobile devices.

Is it possible to access my Home Directory/MyData from off-campus?

Remote and on campus access to your home directory ends when you graduate. If you need access to files from your Home Directory, please call the Technology Helpline (507-933-6111) or e-mail helpline@gustavus.edu. We will be happy to assist!

Am I still able to use the ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Search after graduation?

Yes, you will have access to the online ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Search.

I am in need of serious computer help. Where should I go?

There are many businesses that provide support in case of serious computer problems; check with your computer or software vendor, or ask people in the area for a recommendation.

However, you should always use caution and good judgment when taking your computer to be repaired. It is recommended that you back up your data before having any service done to your computer, and remove any confidential data/sensitive data (taxes, personal pictures, passwords, etc.) from your hard drive before having your computer serviced.
