Mid-Year Request Process

If you need to request a computer outside of the normal request processes, there is a , that will be reviewed by GTS on a rotating basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need a new computer?
As a general rule, faculty and staff can expect 4-5 years of use with their device before needing to request a new computer.
As a general rule, student workstations can expect 6-7 years of use before needing to request a new computer.
My computer is currently not functioning and is impeding my work, what do I do?
If your computer is not working and you are unable to fulfill your job requirements, please contact the Technology Helpline for assistance.
Where is the barcode that is mentioned on the request form?
On desktop computers, the black 鶹Ƶ barcode tag is on top side of the computer, near the power button. On laptops, the 鶹Ƶ barcode tag is on the underside of every laptop.

How Old is My Computer?

Apple Computers

  • Click the Apple Menu
  • Click on About this Mac
  • Under the name of the operating system, the year and model of the computer will be listed.

Please note that Apple does not make a new device each year. For example, the 2015 MacBook Pro was sold for 2 years before they released a new model.

On the front cover, there will be a sticker denoting the model. The corresponding models and years are listed here. If you do not see a sticker on the front cover, you can find a white label on the back of the computer with the year it was built, except for the 2019 model.
