Microsoft regularly releases updates to the Windows operating system and other Microsoft products via Windows Update. Applying these updates is an important step to protecting the security of your computer.

Manually Updating

Windows 10

By default Windows 10 is configured to receive updates automatically.

  • Click the Windows key on your keyboard.
  • Search for Check for Updates (it will be the second one in the list).
  • Click the check now button.
  • Install any updates needed.
  • Repeat this process until no further updates are needed.

Windows 8

  • Click the Windows key on your keyboard.
  • Search for Check for Updates (it will be the second one in the list).
  • Click the check now button.
