The Summer Timeline outlines some of the big things that will happen during this summer.

Major projects and goals

  • Cascade 150 new or upgraded computers in faculty, staff, and administrative offices
  • Rewire the networking in Lund Center
  • Upgrade the Culpeper Language Lab Computers
  • Upgrade the Music Keyboard Lab Computers
  • Install Wireless Networking in Residence Halls
  • Upgrade the HES Computer Lab
  • Upgrade Networking in Section E in Norelius
  • Implementing increased campus security measures, e.g. secure email and passwords, requiring increased customer support
  • Subnetting of residences halls networks, requiring re-registering of all computers on those subnets
  • Upgrade the Biology Lab with 10 laptops.
  • Upgrade Admission Office to laptops.
  • Install new monitors in the Psychology Lab.
  • Upgrade the Geography Lab.
  • Set up for Summer Registration in June.
  • Explore some alternative options for First Year Student Orientation (Tech Training) in the fall.

  • May 30th - First day of summer work!
  • May 30th - Set up your Workstation
  • May 30th - Training on the database
  • May 30th - If you know when you are taking vacation. Please edit the Summer GTS staff vacation page.
  • May 30th - Who is coming up with next year's Helpline shirts? Are we doing summer shirts as well? Get some ideas!!
  • May 31st - Training for Imaging computers (tentative)
  • May 31st - Pull computers out of Norelius

June

  • June 1st - Unsecure e-mail users will not have access to their e-mail until they switch to secure settings.
  • June 5th - Subnet the wireless and res-hall VLANs
  • June 19th - Setup for First-Year Registration in Alumni
  • June 20, 21 and 22nd - Table set up and manned for First Year Student Registration.
  • June 20, 21 and 22nd - Technology SuperHighway on the Hill - Formal Presentations for parents and students during registration.
  • June 26 - 30. Minnesota Private Collge Week. Lots of visitors on campus.

July

  • August 28th - Senior CAs Return
  • August 29th - Up and Running Training for Helpline Employees begins!

September

  • September 2nd - First Year Students Arrive!
  • September 6th - Classes Start.
